About Dr. Jose Jacob
Dr. Jose Jacob is an invasive cardiologist with over 23 years of experience treating cardiovascular diseases. He specializes in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, and transesophageal echocardiograms. Dr. Jacob earned his MSc in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and has completed his Weill Cornell Medical College cardiology fellowship.
Dr. Jacob was born on January 3rd, 1960, in India. His journey into medicine began in the late 1970s when he enrolled at St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India, to pursue his medical education. He graduated in 1983, completing his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Jacob decided to specialize in internal medicine, and he pursued his postgraduate education in this field. In March 1991, he completed his MD in General Internal Medicine, further strengthening his expertise in medicine.
In 1992, Dr. Jacob moved to England, where he worked in the Republic of Ireland and England. He worked as a Senior House Officer and Medical Registrar in the Division of Internal Medicine at Letterkenny General Hospital in Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland, from 1994 to 1996. During this time, Dr. Jacob was also awarded a Master of Science (MSc) degree by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1995. His thesis focused on “Thrombolysis in Acute Myocardial Infarction,” a topic of great importance in cardiology.
Dr. Jacob’s next move came in 1996 when he relocated to the United States to further his career. He started his journey in the U.S. by completing an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.
After completing his residency, Dr. Jacob pursued a fellowship in cardiology at the Weill Cornell Medical College and New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He trained as a cardiology fellow from 1999 to 2002, gaining specialized knowledge in invasive cardiology.
Since 2002, Dr. Jose Jacob has practiced as an invasive cardiologist in various hospitals across the United States. His work includes providing consultative cardiology services, performing cardiac catheterizations, implanting pacemakers and defibrillators, and conducting advanced diagnostic tests like transesophageal echocardiograms.
Dr. Jacob began his career as an invasive cardiologist in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at the Fayetteville Heart Center. From there, he continued his work in cardiology at several hospitals, including Carolina Heart in Greenville, North Carolina, and Carolina East Cardiology. His practice expanded as he moved to Eastern Carolina Cardiovascular, where he worked from 2010 to 2018.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Jacob held administrative and leadership positions. From 2016 to 2018, he served as the Director and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He was also the Chief of Staff at Martin General Hospital in Williamston, North Carolina, from 2019 to 2020.
In 2021, Dr. Jacob relocated to Florida and continued his practice at the Cardiac Specialty Institute in Leesburg, Florida. He works at the Cardiovascular Institute of Central Florida in Ocala, Florida, providing cardiovascular care to patients in the region. He is affiliated with several hospitals in Florida, including HCA Ocala Regional Medical Center, AdventHealth Hospital, and West Marion Community Hospital.
